Jaleesa D. Harris, 23, a Senior Mass Communication: Media Production Major from Jackson, Ms.  “A Raisin in the Sun” is the first play production Jaleesa worked on as an Asst.

Stage Manager. She contunued doing both sound design and running sound for the JSU department.  She is a MADDRAMA member S.C.E.N.E 35.  The summer of 2015 she

attended a two-week program with Tim Reid, where she and her colleagues produced a

seven-minute short film and premiered it to the campus.  Jaleesa is currently working in

the field of videography for the department of Speech and Theatre at Jackson State

University.  Her plans are to work her way through the ranks of the film world and

eventually become a director producing her own films that she’s written.

She mostly edits for the organization as it is her favorite part of the film world apart from seeing the finished product.

After the two-week Master Class program with Actor/Director/Producer Tim Reid Harris found that film was where she should be.  She wanted to do more of it.  She needed to.  Film makes her happy more then any of her other talents.  She along with Orionna and Dashawna decided to start SOC not just to showcase their talents, but share their knowledge and to help other's to thrive in the filmmaking world.

After she's finished at JSU she plans to attend a film school in California or obtaining an internship.  Harris believes there is no greater feeling then wathcing others enjoy something you've created.

Orionna Brumfield is an aspiring cinematographer who always dreamed of changing the world in visual elements. She is one of three founders in Students of Cinema where she serves at the 1st Vice President.

Brumfield found her love for filmmaking during her junior year as a student of Tim Reid’s two week master class. Since then, she received an opportunity through Golden Key to complete her first out of state internship in Los Angeles, California with Dream Careers. She worked vigorously to raise all of the money to cover all of her expenses, and she even got support from actress, singer, song writer Keke Palmer. She’s also produced her own client packages, music videos, and films through her brand, Only Ori Productions as well as with Students of Cinema.

Her ultimate goal is to use the entrepreneurial art forms of cinema and business to create, produce, and direct her own content. She lives by the philosophy, “You have to set yourself apart”, and she continues to constantly evaluate her plans to prepare herself for the day after graduation.

My name is Dashawna Wright, I'm a senior, mass communication major at Jackson State University and the president/founder of Students of Cinema on campus. One of the reasons why I wanted to be apart of starting this organization is because I love movies. I fell in love with the process of making movies my junior year in college, when I was apart of a film workshop. I learned so much while directing a short film that I wanted to share my knowledge with others. Since students of cinema I have written and directed two of my very own short films. I have a lot of experience with production, cameras, green screen and writing. After I leave Jackson State University I really want to pursue my dreams of being a producer/director in television and films. I believe that Students of Cinema is a important organization because it prepares students who are interested in the film and television industry.
